Regency Enterprises is a Los Angeles-based entertainment company formed by Arnon Milchan. It was founded in 1982 as Embassy International Pictures, but the company name changed to avoid confusion with Norman Lear's Embassy Pictures (known from 1975 to 1982 as Avco Embassy Pictures). ==New Regency== New Regency Productions is a production company founded in 1991 by Arnon Milchan and a subsidiary of Regency Enterprises.〔''Billboard'' (September 3, 2005), page 85.〕 It is located on the 20th Century Fox lot. New Regency primarily produces movies, and has at least 100 movies to its credit. New Regency produced 2013's ''12 Years a Slave'' and 2014's ''Birdman'', which earned the company back-to-back Academy Awards for Best Picture. In September 1997, Milchan signed a 15-year distribution pact with 20th Century Fox worldwide in all media outside of foreign TV rights, ending a previous association with Warner Bros. Fox's parent company News Corporation (now 21st Century Fox) funneled $200 million in New Regency, in exchange for a 20% stake in the company. In 2011, Fox and New Regency extended the pact, to expire in 2022.
